On the southern coast of Peru, facing the Pacific Ocean, the Ballestas Islands display a unique natural spectacle. Their rock formations, the mysterious Candelabro geoglyph, and abundant wildlife—sea lions, guano birds, and Humboldt penguins—make this destination a true natural sanctuary.
After the sea adventure, the Huacachina Oasis awaits you. We will pick you up from your hotel in Lima very early to start our adventure south along the Pan-American Highway. Our first destination will be the coastal town of Paracas.
Upon arrival, we will board a speedboat to the Ballestas Islands, known for their impressive marine biodiversity. On the way, we will admire the mysterious Candelabro geoglyph, carved into a desert hill.
During the tour (approx. 2 hours), we will observe fascinating fauna such as sea lions, Humboldt penguins, pelicans, and other species inhabiting this unique ecosystem.
After the excursion, you will have free time to walk around the El Chaco artisanal boardwalk.
Then, we continue to the magical Huacachina Oasis, a place surrounded by gigantic dunes. Here you will have free time for lunch (not included) while enjoying the view of the lagoon.
After lunch, get ready for adrenaline! We will board sand buggies to traverse the imposing desert dunes. During the ride, you will have the opportunity to practice sandboarding, sliding down the sand for an exciting experience.
We end the day watching an incredible sunset over the desert before returning to Lima.

Not at all. Most tourists slide down the dunes sitting or lying on their stomachs (sled-style), which is very safe and extremely fun.
Light cotton clothing is best for the day. However, keep in mind that the wind whips up the sand during the buggy ride, so bringing sunglasses and a bandana or scarf to cover your mouth is highly recommended.
