Hidden amidst the arid landscapes of the Ica desert lies a natural wonder sculpted by time: the Canyon of the Lost (Cañón de los Perdidos). With its imposing walls and rock formations revealing millions of years of geological history, this place offers a unique experience where the vastness of the desert meets absolute stillness.
No photograph can capture the grandeur of this canyon, making it an incomparable in-person experience. With our Canyon of the Lost Tour, you will venture into a mystical setting where nature and silence tell their own story. Undoubtedly, it is an unmissable destination for those seeking to discover a surprising and less-visited attraction in Peru.
Between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m., we will pick you up from your hotel to start this day of discovery.
We begin at the Plaza de Armas in Ocucaje, famous for its iconic sculptures representing local identity, such as the megalodon shark, fighting roosters, and the farmer. It's an ideal stop to feel the spirit of the place and take unique photos.
Next, we will pause for breakfast at a traditional restaurant (optional) and stock up on snacks for the journey.
Our main destination is the Canyon of the Lost, an impressive natural formation that will take your breath away. From the viewpoint, you will observe the confluence of the Ica and Seco rivers in an otherworldly setting. We will hike through its formations, learn about its geological origin, and spot local wildlife like owls and lizards.
After exploring, we will stop for a typical lunch (not included) and share stories from the tour.
The final stop takes us to an artisanal winery, where you will have the opportunity to taste Pisco, wine, and the classic crema de pisco, crafted with passion and local tradition.
Finally, we return to your hotel, leaving you with the feeling of having discovered a magical corner of Peru.

It is located in the Ocucaje district, approximately 2 hours south of the city of Ica. The journey takes you directly through the striking desert landscape.
Despite its imposing appearance, the hike is quite easy. The walk along the canyon floor is mostly flat, though a moderate fitness level is recommended to comfortably handle the desert heat.
Yes! The Ocucaje desert is world-renowned for its paleontological wealth. During the tour, you can observe the fossilized remains of prehistoric whales and giant sharks that inhabited this area millions of years ago.
Departures are scheduled very early in the morning. This allows us to avoid the extreme midday heat and take full advantage of the morning sunlight, which beautifully highlights the red and yellow hues of the canyon walls.
As it is a pristine natural landscape in the middle of the desert, there are no restrooms or shops inside the canyon. We highly recommend coming prepared for a true off-the-grid nature experience.
