The ancient trails of the Andes hold secrets revealed only to those who walk them. The Short Inca Trail is the magical bridge between the lush jungle and living history. Imagine walking up stone steps, surrounded by wild orchids, waterfalls, and birdsong, as you make your way into the heart of the sanctuary.
The highlight of this route is Wiñay Wayna (2,650 m / 8,694 ft), an architectural jewel that serves as the perfect prelude to the main wonder. No description can prepare you for the thrill of crossing the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) and seeing Machu Picchu revealed before your eyes for the first time.
This adventure is perfect for those seeking a deep connection with nature and history but prefer the comfort of a hotel over camping. Experience the magic of the Incas and take home an unforgettable memory.
We pick you up early from your hotel to take you to the train station. You will board a scenic train that offers spectacular views of the Sacred Valley until we reach Km 104, the starting point of our trek.

After an early breakfast, we take the first buses back up to Machu Picchu.

The 2-day version is an "express" route designed for those who want to experience the sacred path without camping. You will hike the most beautiful section (KM 104), visit the stunning Wiñay Wayna ruins, and enter Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) on foot, but you'll spend the night in a comfortable hotel in Aguas Calientes.
The difficulty is rated as Moderate. You will hike approximately 7.5 miles (12 km), which takes about 6 to 7 hours. While there are some steep inclines at the beginning, the trail is well-maintained. It’s perfect for hikers with regular physical fitness.
We recommend booking at least 3 to 5 months in advance, especially for travel between May and August, as permits sell out quickly.
You only need a small daypack (20-30L). You must carry your clothes for the two days, water, snacks, and personal items. Your main luggage will stay at your hotel in Cusco. Remember, you will be carrying your own pack on Day 1, so we recommend keeping it light!
Yes! On Day 1, you reach the Sun Gate for a breathtaking first view of the citadel at sunset. The comprehensive, private guided tour of the Machu Picchu circuits takes place on Day 2 in the morning, after you've rested and had breakfast at your hotel.
