We begin our adventure very early, departing from Cusco towards the picturesque village of Pitumarca, where a delicious Andean breakfast with local products awaits us. We continue our journey towards the breathtaking Sibinacocha Lagoon, surrounded by high-plateau landscapes and turquoise reflections that will leave you breathless.

Next, we head to the beautiful Phinaya Valley, a magical corner where we will have lunch with panoramic views of the majestic Quelccaya Glacier. In the afternoon, we will take a hike of approximately one hour to a natural viewpoint to appreciate the vastness of the eternal ice and the contrasts of the Andes.

We end the day with a warm dinner and overnight stay at our campsite, under a sky full of stars and surrounded by the incomparable peace of the mountain range. An authentic and unforgettable experience in the heart of Cusco.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

It is a tropical glacier located in the Vilcanota mountain range. It is a destination of extreme adventure and unmatched scenic beauty.

It is High/Challenging. We reach altitudes above 5,000 m.a.s.l. and the weather is freezing. It requires very good physical condition, prior acclimatization, and proper cold-weather gear.

Yes. Part of the experience includes walking on the glacier's edge. For safety, this is always done with a high-mountain guide and, depending on ice conditions, may require crampons (which we provide). It is a unique opportunity to touch the ice.

It is crucial to go during the Dry Season (May to October). During these months, the sky is clear and the ground is firm. We do not recommend going in the rainy season (December to March) as snowstorms and fog make the route dangerous and visibility zero.

Since this is a remote area, there are no hotels. Accommodation is in high-mountain campsites or local homestays in the Phinaya community. It is a rustic, authentic experience of total connection with nature.
