Between Andean clouds and mountains shrouded in mystery stands Peru's crown jewel: Machu Picchu. Its perfectly carved stone walls and sacred temples reveal the grandeur of the Inca civilization, set within a natural landscape that leaves every traveler breathless.
Towering above this sanctuary, Machu Picchu Mountain offers a unique vantage point with panoramic views of the citadel and the majestic valley below.
No photograph can fully capture the thrill of walking these sacred grounds or the sense of accomplishment from conquering the summit. To live it in person is simply transformative. With our 2-Day Machu Picchu & Mountain Tour, you will experience the perfect blend of history, nature, and adventure in the heart of the Andes.
We begin with a pick-up from your hotel in Cusco and a scenic transfer through the Sacred Valley to the train station. Enjoy the relaxing train ride along the Urubamba River until you reach Aguas Calientes.
Upon arrival and check-in at your hotel, we head straight to the bus station. A short ride takes us to the entrance of the Inca City.
You will enjoy a comprehensive 2.5-hour guided tour of the citadel. Our expert guide will lead you through the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial, and the Royal Quarters, bringing the history of the Incas to life. Afterward, we return to Aguas Calientes for a free evening. You can visit the hot springs or enjoy a local dinner.
Today, we rise early for the main event. After breakfast, we take the bus back up to the sanctuary for your second entry, focused on the hike.
You will ascend Machu Picchu Mountain. Unlike Huayna Picchu, this trail is wider and less steep but longer and higher. As you climb, the views get better with every step, revealing the lush cloud forest and the Vilcanota mountain range.
Reaching the summit takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. From the top, you have the classic 'postcard view' of the ruins far below—a truly spiritual experience away from the crowds.
After the descent, we return to Aguas Calientes for lunch before boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo and your transfer to Cusco.

The ascent takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your physical pace, with an additional hour for the descent. Since this is a 2-day tour, we schedule this hike for the morning of the second day. This allows you to climb at a relaxed pace and enjoy the tranquility of this route, which is significantly less crowded than others.
Yes. Unlike Huayna Picchu, entry to Machu Picchu Mountain is open to all ages. It is an excellent option for families with children or active older adults who enjoy mountain hiking, as the trail is wide, safe, and well-marked.
Although tickets do not sell out as quickly as Huayna Picchu, spots are still strictly limited to 400 per day. We recommend booking at least 4 to 6 weeks in advance to secure a morning entry slot, which offers cooler temperatures and clearer views.
Machu Picchu Mountain is the highest peak in the entire complex (3,082 m / 10,111 ft). Unlike Huayna Picchu, its trails are wider, less steep, and do not have exposed vertical drops (no extreme vertigo). It is the ideal choice for those seeking a rewarding physical hike with a 360° panoramic view of the citadel, the Urubamba River, and the surrounding mountains.
