The adventure begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. We will travel through the majestic Sacred Valley to the train station in Ollantaytambo or Poroy. From there, enjoy a scenic train ride where every window frames a living painting of winding rivers, imposing mountains, and lush green valleys.
Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, an Aura Andina representative will welcome you and escort you to your hotel. Later, your guide will take you to the bus station for the ride up to the citadel.
You will enjoy a 2.5-hour guided tour of this World Heritage Site, discovering its history, secrets, and unique architecture. After the visit, return to town for lunch at a top-rated restaurant. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore the colorful markets or relax in the hot springs.
After a restful night and breakfast, your guide will pick you up for your second entry to the sanctuary. Today is the big challenge: hiking Huayna Picchu, the towering mountain that overlooks the citadel.
The trail is steep and thrilling, rewarding every step with spectacular aerial views where Machu Picchu looks like a jewel carved into the rock. This 2.5-hour hike is one of the most desired experiences by travelers worldwide.
After this rewarding feat, you will return to Aguas Calientes for lunch. In the afternoon, board the train back to Ollantaytambo, where our private transport will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Cusco.

Due to strictly limited availability (only 300 spots per day divided into groups), we recommend booking at least 3 to 4 months in advance, especially if you are traveling during high season (May to August). This is the fastest-selling ticket in all of Peru.
Since this is a 2-day tour, you stay overnight in Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo). This allows you to enter the citadel during the first morning shift (6:00 AM), ensuring you hike Huayna Picchu in cooler weather and enjoy the ruins with fewer crowds compared to travelers arriving by train from Cusco later in the day.
The trail is safe and well-marked, but it includes sections with narrow stone steps and deep drop-offs. If you suffer from severe vertigo, this hike may be challenging. However, for most travelers with moderate fitness, it is a safe and rewarding adrenaline-filled experience.
The ascent takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes, depending on your physical pace. The descent takes about 45 minutes. In total, about 2.5 hours are allocated to complete the mountain challenge.
Although the name sounds intimidating, these are original Inca stone steps that are steep and narrow. They do not pose a real danger if climbed carefully using the installed safety cables. It is the most exciting section of the route and offers a unique vertical view of the citadel.
Yes. For safety reasons due to the steepness and narrowness of the trails, the Ministry of Culture prohibits entry to children under 12 years old. Teenagers (12 to 17 years old) must present their original passport or ID and be accompanied by an adult.
Extremely strict. The name and document number on your ticket must match your original physical passport or ID exactly. Digital photos or photocopies are not accepted. If you renewed your passport after booking the tour, you must bring both passports (the old one used for booking and the new valid one).
